Secrets of the May+June issue
WTA's May+June issue has arrived. Have you read your copy yet?
Like a trillium emerging from the forest floor, the arrival of our May+June issue is a sure sign that summer is just around the bend. And, from cover to cover, this issue is packed with advice and inspiration for a summer full of outdoor adventure.
Our features will take you from the slopes of Mount Rainier, back in time, and then out to the wild Olympic Coast.
But perhaps you need to get in shape first before you spend the weekend climbing mountain hillsides, time-traveling or hiking the rugged coast? No problem. Check out athletic coach John Colver's advice in the article "Love Hiking More." To complement this piece, we are featuring twelve conditioning hikes right here on this site. (Thank you, Facebook fans, for your fabulous suggestions!)
Have kids that will soon be out school and looking to you for entertainment? Take them camping! You'll find inspiration and advice in the articles "Camping with a Crew" and "Best Summer Ever."
And while we do make a lot of this great content available online, there is so much more that is only found in the issue itself. What is a "butterfly road trip?" Why did one of our members run from Seattle to Olympia? What trail projects will the Greg Ball Trail Fund support in 2011? Can a low-fat brownie taste good?
You'll find the answers to all of those questions and many more in the issue. Not yet a subscriber? Sign up today, or find the magazine for sale at REI, Barnes and Noble, Bulldog News and other select retail outlets. Many local libraries carry it, too.
And, just for fun, here's a pop quiz.
Which of the following animals is not pictured in the current issue of Washington Trails: a marmot, a donkey, a mountain goat or a pika? Leave your guess in the comments. The first person to answer correctly will receive two pocket naturalist guides, Tracks on Trail and Washington State Wildlife.
The answer is:
