Your Suggestions, Please
Suggest January & February hikes for Washington Trails Magazine.
I am not ready to say that we've crossed the threshold of winter, but with the weather forecast for this weekend I can't really ignore the fact that winter is anything but just around the corner either.
Curling up with a good book when storms kick up in the mountains and rain pounds the lowlands is cool and all, but I can only read so many books before I am aching to be back out on the trail, stretching my body and soaking in the views. I also know that there are plenty of winter days when the sun comes out, the rain abates and the mountains beg to be explored...and sometimes you only get a moment's notice before that good weather "strikes." It's good to have some ideas in mind so that you can go while the the getting is good.
Here's your chance to help your fellow hikers combat cabin fever. Recommend a hike that is perfect for January or February. Inquiring minds want to know - where do you like hike in the winter? What is so special about that place? What makes that trail good for an invigorating winter adventure?
Write up a short 250-word review of your favorite winter hike and share it with us! We'll run select suggestions in our next issue of Washington Trails. We'll need your suggestion - and a photo from your hike - by November 5, 2010. Email your suggestion directly to editor@wta.org.
In addition to your description of the hike, please tell us why it would be a good choice for January or February and be sure to tell us your name and where you live.
Thanks, and see you in the snow!
