We started our hike at 11:30 on a Sunday, which I was sure would mean crowds on the trail. Fortunately, it was raining so that could have been a deterrent for most folks. The trail was an easy hike in some places, others were very muddy, especially the trails where horses are allowed. I was prepared for a muddy, mushy hike and tried to hop around as best I could.
We encountered about 15 people total, a few trail runners, a few families with kids, and a people people on horses. For most of our hike, however, we were able to enjoy the woods alone.
There was some areas where water was on the path, but it was easy to avoid. Due to the recent frequent rains, the undergrowth is very thick, and on parts of the trail the leaves will brush against you. I got 'bit' by nettles on my hands and legs, long pants might be a good idea.
Overall, it was a great day for a misty hike, the temperature was perfect for me, and the lack of sun ensured a mostly solitary hike.
