Bessemer Mountain — Sunday, Mar. 26, 2017

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Bessemer Mountain by JohnFang
Our group hiked south Bessemer mountain. We parked at the gate and walked along the logging road, which was boring until we hit snow around 3000ft. The snow was deep and we had to put on snowshoes to break the trail because no one hiked there recently or fresh snow covered old tracks. We mostly followed the logging road until we arrived at the junction to north Bessemer mountain peak. We took a ridge to climb toward the south peak. Unfortunately, the snow became heavy and a whiteout was imminent. We had to turn back at about 100ft away from the south peak because we concerned about passing two steep slopes on our way back in whiteout. Even it was cloudy and rainy/snowy, the view of the middle fork valley was Gorgeous. An excellent place for snowshoeing once you pass the boring lower section of logging road.
