Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Kaleetan Peak by JohnFang
We, a group of 5, scrambled Kaleetan peak on 7/1/2017. We started from Denny creek trailhead. The two creek crossings were ok for us. Once arrived at Melakwa lake, we took the toilet trail on the left side ridge. We dropped a bit too early to a boulder field and ended up climbing up to the ridge to regain the path. Should stay on the ridge until we got to the steep snow fields. At this point, we need to climb down the snow slope to reach the path on the other side. The snow was hard and icy with bad rounouts, we used rope to setup a handline because a member forgot to bring ice axe. The snow field was the most difficult part on that day. The final scrambling from the gully was rather easy. We met 3 parties on approaching and one more party when we climbed down. The view from the summit was gorgeous.
