Each winter, trees damaged by a previous fire fall on the Duckabush River Trail. And every spring, WTA crews venture out to clear them away. Come help us clear away last winter's blow downs and learn what it takes to fix a trail after a tree falls in the forest.
Fri, May 08, 2026 — Tue, May 12, 2026
Join this crew for 6 days of trailwork alongside the glittering waters of Lake Chelan. The Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness was hit hard by the 2024 Pioneer Fire, closing the Lakeshore Trail and connecting trails for several months. The December 2025 floods also caused significant damage.
This crew will be transported uplake by a Forest Service boat and camp at the small Cascade Creek campsite, on the shores of Lake Chelan. They will work on repairing tread and washouts on the Lakeshore trail, possibly catching a ride on a Forest Service boat to get a little farther.
Thu, May 21, 2026 — Tue, May 26, 2026
Spend 6 days repairing trails in the dramatic hills above glittering Lake Chelan! You'll work alongside blooming balsamroot in a recovering landscape. The Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness was hit hard by the 2024 Pioneer Fire, closing the Lakeshore Trail and connecting trails for several months. This crew will be boated uplake and hike to a backcountry camp 4.5 miles above Prince Creek landing.
Mon, Jun 01, 2026 — Fri, Jun 05, 2026
Join this to complete 5 days of trailwork in rugged terrain. High, wild and remote, the Entiat is an under-visited gem of Washington. It has suffered from multiple fires over the past two decades, and was most recently hit by the Pomas Fire in 2025.
This crew will build on past work and focus on clearing the Entiat River Trail as far as possible. This crew may also work on the Snowybrushy trail or Cow Creek Lakes trail, depending on snow levels
Thu, Jun 25, 2026 — Sun, Jun 28, 2026
Join the WTA crew on this backcountry adventure along the Bridge Creek trail which doubles as a section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) as it approaches Rainy Pass on Highway 20!
Thu, Jul 09, 2026 — Mon, Jul 13, 2026
Join this crew to give some much needed love to a hidden gem trail in the Norse Peak Wilderness! The crew will camp in the meadows of Crow Creek Lake, a lovely valley lake with views of Fifes Ridge and surrounding hills. The Norse Creek wilderness was hit hard by a large wildfire in 2017. This crew will hike through stands of live trees and see the forest slowly recovering. There are hundreds of trees on the Crow Creek trail, so this crew will get plenty of saw time as they work through the jumble.
Thu, Jul 16, 2026 — Sun, Jul 19, 2026
Join a crew heading past popular Lena Lake into the hauntingly-named (but gorgeous) Valley of the Silent Men. You'll do important maintenance that improves the quality of the trail through this area used by hikers and climbers alike.

Wed, Sep 16, 2026 — Mon, Sep 21, 2026
This crew will be doing much needed trailwork on the remote Devore Trail. This trail is directly across the lake from Stehekin. It provides the shortest land route connecting Holden Village and Stehekin - two remote wilderness towns that are freqent stops for thru-hikers. Holden Village is inaccessible due to damage from 2025 floods so this trail is a critical connection route.
A Forest Service boat will transport the crew all the way to the tip of the lake before they head out on a strenuous hike to a backcountry campsite. This crew will hike big miles to complete a lot of much needed trailwork on this steep connector trail.
Sat, Sep 26, 2026 — Wed, Sep 30, 2026
This crew will work on clearing logs from the forgotten Copper Pass trail that connects the Twisp River Valley to HWY 20. This trail is less popular than the neighboring Twisp Pass trail, partially because it hasn't been annually maintained and there are many downed logs. This crew will pick up where the 2024 WTA crew left off and continue cutting logs and brushy to make Copper Pass passable.
