Esmeralda Peaks has four high points with two main summits, the highest of which is the farthest western peak. The approach to Esmeralda is along the Boulder–DeRoux Trail. Scrambling to the summit from a southern approach is quite moderate.
Leave the De Roux trail after the house sized boulder at the last switchback at 5600' and head up the hill side. Class 2. Climbers will find some minor bushwhacking, or they can further west for a boulder field alternative.
