Hiking Goat Peak

This trail climbs northeast from the ridgetop saddle up and around the shoulder of Goat Peak. From there, the trail stays close to the ridge as it winds north toward Goat Peak itself. Views are expansive from Goat Peak, and there are further options to explore using connecting trails, if you're adventurous.

Two miles from the trailhead is a junction with a trail — Big Goat. It's a 2.3 mile hiker-only trail that heads downhill and links up with the Big Creek Trail at the bottom of the valley. Unfortunately, the Big Goat trail is not maintained and difficult to follow.

Past the Big Goat junction, the Goat Peak trail heads downhill, switchbacking to a saddle. From the saddle the trail follows an access road up to an old lookout site.
