This is an easy loop trail, wandering nearly one mile through a forest of bigleaf maple and cedars on the shores of Carr Inlet in Gig Harbor. With less than fifty feet of elevation gain and plenty of picnic tables, it makes the perfect destination for families with small children.
The delightful, short, family-friendly trail loop in this state park showcases salmonberries in spring and summer, as well as three kinds of ferns: sword fern, horse tail fern and licorice fern. These, in addition to the maples and cedars, mean that the short trail is a great place to hone your budding identification skills.
If photography is your passion, you'll find the waterside views of Key Peninsula across Carr Inlet and Henderson Bay are great, as well as the distant peaks on the Olympic Peninsula.
