Hiking Schafer State Park

Visit a sweet little state park on the Satsop River, where you can picnic, fish, float and do a little hiking.

There are about 2 miles of trail here where you can wander through forest and around the camping area, or on the north side of the Satsop River via a bridge. The loop on the north side of the river is a mile long and offers a lovely wander through the forest here, which features sword fern, salal, and large trees draped with moss.

Schafer State Park is a state and national historic site, so designated by the Washington Heritage Register and National Register of Historic Places. Interpretive exhibits highlight the history of homesteadering and the area's logging industry.
