If you are camping at the Tinkham Campground, this is a nice short hike for the whole family. (Note: There is no day-use parking at the campground, so only registered campers will be able to hike this trail.)
This is a well-maintained nature trail meandering through lovely deep green second-growth forest with moss-covered trees and stumps. You will see large stumps left by logging operations of several decades ago. Western sword ferns form a lush evergreen understory. Children will love investigating the insects, wildflowers and fungi along the trail. The trail leads to a small beaver pond. There, you can look out to the pond from an overlook deck built over the edge of the water.
The campground and the trail are open from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September.
