Schmitz Preserve Park — Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

With snow blowing and the roads in questionable condition, we chose to hike close to home. Over coffee this morning I opened my WTA account and perused my backpack and hikes which I've saved to do later. Schmitz park was close, not too long of a hike, and promised old-growth.

The park's trails are muddy but not terrible and their are trees down but only on the side trails heading off to a distant corner of the park. Snow helped silence the city traffic and provided accents to the ferns and towering trees. We logged about two miles.

The park had a fair number of people, many with their dogs. I'd recommend the main trail for running but ultimately it is too short by itself.
