Trip Report

Lord Hill Regional Park — Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Arrived at Lord Hill (north entrance) around noon today. There was snow and ice on the road and in the main lot. We parked down the hill because I was afraid my sedan wouldn't make it. The parking lot has a few inches of snow and the trail snow conditions vary throughout the park. Some of the trails have little to none, but MOST of the trails range from two inches to almost mid calf high! We hiked the Main Trail, West Trail, the very slushy Lower Springboard and Pipeline, the Cutoff as well as the Temple Pond Loop. Lots and LOTS of trees and branches down, but we got around them okay. A few were a little challenging, however. All and all, a fun afternoon hiking about 7.50 miles in the snow. No snowshoes needed, but waterproof boots and gaiters recommended! It's melting fast!!
