Don't get too excited: this snowshoe route starts at the plowed parking area where Hannegan Pass Road meets Mt Baker Highway and on a considerable avalanche forecast like today, doesn't get you up to the summer trailhead. Now that we're all calm, we were the only car there this morning. We started off with snowshoes but they really weren't needed and we ended up taking them off within the first mile. The grade is easy up to the first junction at 1.4 miles. We took the left option which went up to the goat mountain trailhead. Past here is where you enter avalanche terrain so this was our turnaround spot. Majority of this hike is surrounded by trees so on a sunny day, you don't get a lot of rays or mountain views but we loved having the whole place to ourselves! 6 miles round-trip & 600' gain
