We stopped by this spot after we couldn't access Rustlers Gulch from the eastside. The road into the park is gated as it is in the winter but we parked in the designated area and headed off.
We started from the day-use area and headed up the trail. You can find a map here: https://pendoreilleco.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/POC-Park-Trail-Map-2.pdf. We didn't bring our map but since I've been here 10+ times and know that I have cell service in most of the park (with AT&T), I felt comfortable navigating the trails. It took me several times with my map and compass to get oriented in the park and know the trails.
We didn't need our snowshoes and I forgot my nanospikes in the car but I was able to traverse the trail fairly easily, though I would recommend traction devices. We did a small loop and found a few trees across the trail on the Pathfinder Trail and Ginger's End Trail.
We didn't see any wildlife but spotted some bobcat tracks and a few deer tracks. In the past, I've seen evidence of moose and coyotes.
I highly recommend visiting the area in April - June to see the wildflowers at Penstemon point.
