Trip Report

Cheshiahud Lake Union Loop — Friday, Feb. 28, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Another appointment down on Westlake so I hopped on the bus to a coffee shop in Fremont early to get a little writing done first.  Despite being a grey day, it was a cheery walk through town to join the Ches-whatever to head towards Westlake. And Theo Chocolates smelled so good!

The statues at the corner of blank and blank were done up in colors for Holi and the bright blue Fremont bridge beckoned.  Not a good thing but the surface of the waterway was rainbow colored, a spill from someone’s boat most likely.

Buttery daffodils and popcorn cherry blossoms were popping out once I turned onto Westlake Ave and walked along the railroad track remnants and bobbing boat houses.  I stopped to read the old newspaper quote plaques that are placed on the dock railings that remind us that this lake was once a tranquil place belonging to original tribes, not always covered in concrete and lined with modernization.

By the time I reached my destination blue skies were above and the sun was doing its best to warm me through my layers of rain protection.  One of these days I’ll make enough time to walk the whole trail around the lake!

Rainbows I don't like to see.
