Trip Report

Mount Walker — Saturday, Mar. 7, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

We arrived at the trailhead around 8:45 am and there were about five other cars already there. The signage is poor off of Highway 101 so we actually missed the turnoff and had to turn around. Cell service is also spotty out there.

This trail was in good condition, although steeper than we had anticipated in some sections. It is a steady incline all the way up. We didn't see any snow until about the last mile and even then, it wasn't really covering the trail.

Even with some heavy clouds, we got a good view from the north viewpoint. The one other person at the top told us about an alternative viewpoint (south) that was an additional half mile walk, but flat. We enjoyed the view for a few minutes from the south point, saw several grey jays before heading back down. We were back at our car by about 12:30 pm.
