Hiked up to Sherman Peak while doing the Loop Trail. Needed snowshoes the entire trip and conditions were Great Sun and Scenery wise but snow conditions were interesting to say the least. Trails had Frozen slope ice with 2-6 inches of corn snow on top, with out snow shoes Post holed up to hips in places.
The trail was easy to follow we went right at the intersection to the Snow Peak Junction then back around to the Sherman Trail head. The Snow is starting to come off and on top it was bare surrounded by snow. Saw Wolf and Cougar tracks on the trail as well as deer, but did not see any wild life other than tree critters.
It was a beautiful Blue sky day and you could see the Snow Peak cornices still hanging on, but a few had already broken and you could see recent small avalanches under them but not close to the trail.
Over all a fun and challenging day probably 2-3 weeks to see good trail break up.
