The good: A lovely walk through the woods to a mostly snow-covered Lake Dorothy. The trail was also in remarkably good shape for not having much maintenance over the winter. There were a couple of trees across the road, but nothing that was hard to navigate. Lots wild flowers along the trail, including trillium and skunk cabbage.
The bad: There was some snow across the trail right at the top, which made it a bit difficult to navigate. With microspikes or poles, it would be a lot easier. The lake level is also pretty high so the spur trail to the day use area requires hopping rocks for a ways.
The ugly: There were a *lot* of trees across the road, which added about 10 miles to our hike. There were some people clearing trees for firewood, so it's getting better. However, the road just above the bridge 3.7 miles from the trailhead is nearly washed out. It's passable only by relatively narrow cars with good ground clearance. Otherwise, plan to park at the bridge and add 7.5 miles and 750 feet of elevation to the hike. You'll also have to cross a ford with water a few inches deep across the road.
