Lake Aldwell Overlook Trail — Thursday, Jun. 11, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

Parked at the lot by the RV park and hiked to the two overlooks. Not much to see from there as trees are overgrown. Some spots are a bit narrow on the trail as it's overgrown. Be careful of nettles. We then hiked down the old gravel road to the old dam site and continued on past hoping to find the gravel bar, but we didn't make it that far I guess as we never found it. Various terrain on this hike, from the gravel road to typical forest trail and then what I assumed was the bottom of the lake at one point. Lots of new growth and nature reclaiming itself. Was hoping there would be more information along the trail, like history of the dam and why it was removed. I know the general story, but thought there might be signage. Also appeared lots of other trails around, but again, no signs.

We got here in the evening and had the whole place to ourselves. Never saw anyone else until we were headed back to the car and saw another couple. No facilities here.
