The road is full of potholes, and takes a long time to drive. The parking lot at Heather lake was crowded, and the parking lot for Pilchuck was about half full.
The trail is in very good condition, only 1 or 2 trees that were easy to maneuver around. The first mile of the hike is about 1/2 inch of water, and the remaining portion is snow. I would definitely recommend boots and microspikes. On sunday the snow was soft and the incline too steep to do in just tennis shoes. Trail was easy to navigate.
The weather was beautiful on Sunday, but it was overcast so there were no views at the top of the lookout tower.
