I hiked the Padilla Bay Shore Trail yesterday with some friends. It’s a great trail for social distancing as the path is wide and provides plenty of room to spread out and to pass other trail users. It wasn’t terribly crowded when we visited on Thursday afternoon – we passed about 20-30 people over the course of 3 hours. Both the north and south parking lots/trailheads are open.
The trail is also suitable for bikes, strollers or wheelchairs that can handle a gravel surface.
Be sure to bring sun protection if you plan to visit on a sunny day – there’s not much shade coverage along the trail. It was a lovely sunny day yesterday and we were prepared with sunscreen, hats, and bottles of water.
