Morning trip to Tennant Lake Interpretive Center in Ferndale located in Hovander Park. Parked in the lot near the Fragrance Garden as my destination was the boardwalk over the lake/wetland area. Just a few cars in the parking lot when I arrived.

Headed toward the 50-foot tower and out through the wetlands to the boardwalk. This is all pretty flat and easy rambling. Noticed an eagle circling overhead in the blue skies above and plenty of song birds in earshot. Once on the boardwalk spotted damselflies, climbing nightshade, yellow pond lilies, cedar waxwings and a great view of Mount Baker to the east.

The boardwalk is in fair condition these days with a spot or two showing its age. And, there are still a few benches to sit and enjoy being over the wetland area. Encountered no other people on the boardwalk and it is now marked one way. Excellent, because there is no way to achieve 6-foot distance passing, you would be in the water.

Headed back through the Fragrance Garden. Such a lovely assortment of plants and most are marked. Today's standouts were honeysuckle, lamb's ear, mullein, allium, angelica, globe thistle, pineapple mint, roses, peony, and royal purple smoke trees.

Not much walking mileage taking this particular route, around a mile out and back. However, it well worth the time to just explore and take your time.
