Trip Report

Domke Lake — Thursday, Jun. 25, 2020

Central Cascades > Entiat Mountains/Lake Chelan

There are no roads to be “passable”. Bought a dock permit from Kelly’s Ace Hardware in Chelan and docked at Refrigerator Harbor. It is less than 3 miles from the dock to Domke lake.

Hiked in from the campground with my husband, two dogs, mom, and 11 year old niece. There are a couple of steep spots and it’s definitely a good workout for beginners.
Without a tree canopy, the trail does get pretty toasty. Bring plenty of water for yourself and your pets. There is a small spring my dogs were able to drink from about halfway in but it likely won’t be running much longer this season.
There is still no camping allowed at Domke after fires created hazard trees. You can camp on Lake Chelan at Refrigerator Harbor or Domke Falls which is just down lake from there.

The only person we saw was the gentleman that used to run the resort before it burnt. Very friendly!

IF YOU ARE BOATING IN, be sure to check the wind forecast before you take off. The lake conditions can change in an instant and it’s a long ride with no cell service.
