While the bottom half is lovely, there is a ton of snow up high still. The katwalk itself is clear (except for one section where you have to walk around a snow pile) but to get to it you're crossing very large snow fields. We turned around not long after the Katwalk instead of continuing on to the lakes because the snow got enough more dangerous and not worth the risk. It was incredibly foggy too so hard to see much.
As others have noted there's a large tree down very early on in the trail but we were able to climb over it. It's on a bit of an angle so not an easy hop over but doable. The rivers are also flowing quite well so expect some damp feet.
