Access: Cascade River Road
Round Trip: 32.6 miles
Elevation Range: 2400′-8261′

Approach

  1. Hike south from Cascade Pass to Cache Col.
  2. Hike south through Kool-Aid Lake, Red Ledge, and Middle Cascade Glacier to Formidable-Spider Col.
  3. Hike south through Yang Yang Lakes, Le Conte Mountain, and Le Conte Glacier to Le Conte-Sentinel Col and camp.
  4. Walk down to the southwest edge of Sentinel Peak and attain the west ridge via a suitable entry point.
  5. Climb up the west ridge to reach the summit.
  6. Reverse the route back to the Le Conte-Sentinel Col.
  7. Traverse Le Conte Glacier to reach the northwest snow ramp on Old Guard Peak.
  8. Climb up the northwest side of the peak to reach the summit.
