I went out for a day to clear my head. I had an ambitious plan to climb Pyramid Peak, Iron and Copper peaks. After doing Pyramid- I changed my mind. I was whooped.
I started my hike from the Westside road with my bike. I road 1.5 miles to the Tahoma Creek Trail and locked my bike to a tree. I hiked up the (officially closed due to glacial blowout....) Tahoma creek trail. There are areas difficult to find the trail, but easily manageable if you keep to the north side wall and look for the trail! 2 miles later I was at the Tahoma Creek suspension bridge and on the Wonderland trail.
2 or so miles later I was in the amazing fields of wildflowers and streams. Gorgeous! I turned down the path towards Mirror Lakes. The day was amazing- sunny, no wind, no clouds. Perfect. There was no snow up to the lakes and the first lake was clear and calm for perfect pictures of the mountain in the still water. After the lakes there was intermittent snow and a few snow fields to cross as well as a little route finding.
I had no troubles until I hit the extremely steep side of Pyramid. I did not use my spikes I brought and did not utilize or need an ice axe. There was a short but steep area of snow to the really steep area, then you are on trail for the last .5-1 mile to the summit. The shale ridge walk up was sketchy, but normal. All in all- perfect day and climb. It kicked my butt.
I brought 1 liter of water and a pocket filter, which was perfect. Easy snacks and definitely needed my sun shirt. Lots of sun exposure after mirror lakes.

Glad to get a report on the Tahoma Creek trail. I hope to head up to Emerald Ridge in a week or two. Thanks for posting. Awesome hike, by the way.
