Trip Report

Huckleberry Creek — Sunday, Jul. 26, 2020

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

We hiked in 3.5 miles from the trailhead before turning around. (Only because of time,  not conditions)  This trail has seen better days,  remnants of great trail work being reclaimed by nature. That said,  it's a lovely walk in the woods if you like a gently rolling terrain; continuous ups and downs as you gently ascend, with tree roots and rocks afoot, and lots of water crossings. Some crossings are single split logs, others are easy enough. Two involved substantial obstacles requiring much more effort.  Waterproof boots would be best on this hike.  Huckleberries,  salmon berries, wildflowers! What's not to love😁

The road to the trailhead can be traversed by any vehicle if you're careful,  the guys in the golf cart and the mountain bikers did just fine. There are some good sized potholes along the way to watch out for.  😉

Parking was very limited, especially when someone decides to park an RV trailer and set up camp in the only designated area.

A forest walk

Thus hike isn't a wildflower hike although you may encounter some it is mostly a forest hike.
