The Indian Flat Trail (#955) located on SR 410 is 1.5 miles east of the Bumping Lake Road. After turning off SR 410 the trail head parking is 100 yards off to your left. The trail parallels SR 410 for one half of a mile and then turns uphill with moderate switchbacks. At 1.3 miles there is an open ridgeline with good views of the William O. Douglas Wilderness and Bumping Lake Valley. At 1.7 miles the trail intersects the West Quartz Creek Loop Trail (#952). We went left and walked along the lightly graded ridge for another mile to the Mt. Rainier viewpoint.
The trail is in good condition with no blowdowns. There is no snow and no water sources along the route we travelled. There was only one other group on the trail this July weekend.
