Annette Lake — Thursday, Jul. 30, 2020

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
The lake is gorgeous, but buggy.

Hiked on a sunny, HOT Thursday with my 11 year old son and our dog. Got to the trailhead at 8:30am and there were already 30 cars there. Some may have been for the Asahel Curtis nature trail. Trail is rocky in places but is in very good condition and is mostly in the trees - which was great considering the heat of the day.

Saw probably 15 people on the way up, and another 20 on the way down. Most (but not all) wore masks. Also saw a good number of dogs and most (again not all) were leashed. The ones that weren't leashed were well behaved and right next to their owner.

Bugs at the lake were terrible. We had a good amount of bug spray on and it didn't deter them. They weren't biting bugs (maybe just cluster flies?) but they were annoying enough that we could only stay at the lake for 20 minutes or so. And they continued to follow us for probably 3/4 mile back down.

Overall hike took us 3.5 hours up and down including the 20 minute stay at the lake. Great quick getaway, but recommend going early.

There are a few scree slopes to cross near the lake.
Trail is mostly in the woods.
