Trip Report

The Enchantments — Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020

Central Cascades > Leavenworth Area

There is probably not much that I can add that hasn't already been said. We were lucky to have a day with cloud cover that did not take anything away from the views, but protected us from a beating sun. Everything about the hike is majestic, so many great view points for the vast horizon and looking down at the lakes. Very crowded, which I would expect to keep up on the weekends through the rest of the month.

The main thing I was not prepared for was the Core, and the amount of rock and little scrambles, definitely harder than your usual relatively flat areas. Surprisingly bugs were really not that bad. Last 4 miles is pretty dirty and dusty, so good to have a buff or similar face covering (on top of the pandemic reasons to have one).

Have seen differing reports on length of the hike, two of us clocked it at 21.2 miles. The hike was everything I expected and more!
