Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island
I love the wild shapes of the old growth silhouettes
I've reported on this trail system before. Tonight I hiked to Camp Casey Conference Center then turned back into the woods right away. I later realized that someone had pulled a sign out and left it laying on the ground; same sign last spring indicated the southern sections of trail to Camp Casey were closed. Honestly, I don't know if this area is open now to public for hiking or not, so beware. Only one couple on trail tonight. The old growth is stunning at sundown. This was a good year with plenty of rain for the prairie flowers to flourish. I used a head lamp for my return hike. Covered 2.3 miles r.t. in ~ 1 hour walking briskly. Heard coyotes again tonight off in the distance.
