Gold Hill Road is open to local traffic only so you need to park in the resort parking lot. Hiked the 7.7 mile route as described by WTA. Nice views. New signage since hiking there 4 years ago makes the route easier to follow.
Unfortunately some person has installed a wood carved personal sign on a snag along the Bear Gap section of the trail. The sign is nailed and roped to the tree. It is sad that a person thinks he/she has the right to landscape a public trail. It will take a knife or hatchet to cut rope used to tie the sign to the snag and possibly gear or small ladder to reach the sign
