I didn't think the bugs were as awful as at Spray Park, although we did meet a group of hikers who turned back at the lake because they couldn't stand the bugs. We just put on bug spray before entering the lake area going up and again coming back down and weren't too bothered by the bugs. The road to Mowitch lake is loose gravel and can be pretty bumpy and dusty at times but it's not terrible. Definitely recommend doing this hike on a clear day - our views of Mount Rainier were obscured by clouds most of the day even though it was still pretty sunny. There's enough shade that you should be fine doing the hike when it's hot and bright sun. Eunice Lake was STUNNING and we stopped both times. The color is bright blue and the sand is white and so soft that it looks like the sand in Hawaii! Great spot for a swim on your way down and not too cold. The wildflowers were still decent even in mid-August.
