- In a nutshell, this is a very moderate and easily accessible trail to a gorgeous lake with many surrounding fantastic campsites.
- Spent two nights here over a weekend and snagged a nice spot right on the water, but had to arrive around 1 PM on Friday to get it. Saturday morning we took the path around the lake (~2 mi) and saw that the vast majority (if not all) spots on the water were claimed by that point. It seems like the further out you go, the better the spots get.
- The very sad and unfortunate side effect of this hike being so accessible to many people (there's a road with small vehicle access, too, so lots of people taking ATVs and motorcycles in...) is that there is so much trash to be picked up. On top of that, the toilet at the lake is not in operation and so you have to be very careful on the boot paths, not knowing whether they'll lead to 'buried' wipes, a huge pile of trash, or a fabulous campsite.
- Also, as a side note: our group saw two people on separate occasions open-carrying hand pistols, which was (for us) a little disappointing to see.
