I decided to give this trail another chance and was not disappointed. I was able to locate the beginning of the trail by parking at the front of the Overlake Church parking lot area where the trail intersects with the sidewalk on Willows road and there is a post facing towards the street marking the start of the trail. I walked down the trail past the parking lot and past the Overlake Church parking lots in the back until the trail veers to the left at the pink painted pipe on the ground. Continue going left and you will see another sign pointing to the Sammamish River trail and you cross the bridge and cross over the Sammamish River trail and turn right then cross over to return to the Powerline trail. You will see the big trail map sign at the start of the trail there. The trail goes through some shaded forest mostly uphill until you cross the street at the pedestrian crosswalk. There are lots of ripe berries now.
You continue on and pass several pedestrian neighbor crosswalks. You will reach an area with Mountain View’s on a clear day and continue following the trail sign posts which eventually cross a small creek and come to a dead end at a road with equestrian fields and other trails on the right. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the shaded areas so I recommend bug repellent. It’s a very nice walk with hills and flat areas with a lot of walkers and dog walkers and some joggers. I saw a deer eating berries which seems common near dusk. There were also a lot of rabbits. The trail didn’t seem as long as the mileage labeled here so you may want to plan to go on the additional connecting trails if you’re looking to cover a specific mileage.
