Mud Mountain Dam - Rim Trail — Friday, Aug. 28, 2020

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

We started this hike early in the morning at 8:15am with only two other cars in the lot. Trail is to the right of the parking lot and river trail is still closed. There is a map a bit into the trail and is a very easy hike for most people. We liked how soft the ground was. There is a tree that you must climb over but it isn't that difficult. In some parts, the ferns and berries are overgrown with a narrow path. Trail is marked with 1/2 mile markers and you will see service roads on the way. There is a wooden bench in the middle which is surprising. Not very many views that aren't covered and can hear the white river along the way through most of it. It has some ups and downs in places but not too bad. A nice walk in the woods! We only saw three other groups. Only one group was masked.

Definitely a “walk” with absolutely no views. I did about a mile in and it was so overgrown I gave up, decided to drive up and hiked sheep lake, much better
