Ebey Waterfront Trail — Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

A very open and only somewhat interesting trail right now, it looks like Marysville has plans to extend it even further around the slough. As it currently stands, total round trip distance from the parking lot to end and back was 5km (3.1 miles) with no elevation.

The path was paved and generally wide. Most people on it had masks and social distancing was possible. Along the edges of the path, ripe blackberry was frequently to be seen. Saw multiple families berrying.

There were multiple places along the path with benches and refuse bins however cover from the elements was rare. At the end of the path is an exposed area with multiple picnic tables.

The parking lot had ample space and was fairly active with boat launches and people coming and going.

Birding was okay at mid day. Got good views of merlins, eagles, turkey vultures, great blue herons, kill dear and more. The treatment lagoons were teaming with waterfowl, mostly mallards from a quick survey.

Would return in a different season to see if the slough attracts migratory birds.
