This hike was really wonderful—shaded in the trees at the bottom and panoramic views at the top. We got there at 8am on a holiday weekend Saturday and there were only a couple of other cars in the parking lot. After passing the two groups who arrived at the same time, we were alone on the trail until the top. There's a pile of rocks on the peak with the best views, and a couple of groups can comfortably hang out there and have a snack. We passed more people on the way back down, but almost everyone was wearing a mask while close. The only thing to watch out for with this hike is that the road is a bit rough on the way up. When you turn suddenly off of US-2, you still have 25-30 mins of driving along a bumpy gravel road. There were a couple of sedans in the lot, so it's possible to make it if you're willing to bounce around. And maybe that drive is what's deterring folks from trying what seems like an under-appreciated trip!
