La Rush/Bear Lakes — Sunday, Sep. 6, 2020

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

I remember exploring this road off the CRR years ago and then subsequently hearing about lakes up there from the Marblemount ranger station. The road has great views with good car camping anywhere along the way. There is one portion of the road in which you will have to skim your vehicle between two large boulders. That was interesting with a larger truck. The first lake is maybe a quarter mile. The second lake personally felt much longer than the 1.5mi I was promised. It felt more like 3 one way. Someone lugged a canoe to La Rush and it was beautiful. Way to Bear lake was fairly maintained and is smaller than La Rush yet with more solitude.
