We did a slow multi day hike through Muddy Meadows trail, crossing the PCT and continuing to the Highline. The trail was in great conditions, but the air was full of smoke and there was quite a lot of wind. No campers on the cam site just before the MuddyMeadows/Highline fork and no campers at Foggy Flats. We stayed there overnight with howling winds, that pretty much disabled us from having any sort of fire.
The morning was gorgeous though, with great views of Mt. Adams and fresh weather. We continued to the Yakima Indian Reservation boundary through the field of lava and crossing the 2 streams.
Streams were not a problem at all: one could hop over the rocks without getting even the shoes wet. The persistent winds were a problem though: picking up sand and blowing you off the ridges. We struggled through those, but enjoyed clear views of Mt. Adams and Rainier. It was a beautiful day after all. Camped at the lower campground to avoid the howling winds, which was a good choice. The winds subsided in teh next couple days and we started to see Foggy Flats fill with campers: check your wind report before you go!
After the windy nights a few trees fell down at random places blocking the trail completely, but with ways to go around without loosing the trail in sight. It was apparent that the roads had a few trees fallen on them as well, but I guess those are used quite frequently, so by the time we were going back that was all cleared.
