Trails for everyone, forever

Home Go Hiking Trip Reports Dosewallips State Park - Maple Valley Loop, Dosewallips State Park - Steam Donkey Trail, Dosewallips State Park - Beach Trail

Great trails right from campground. Did counterclockwise loop along Maple Valley and then Steam Donkey. Beautiful mossy forest among ferns. Trails were in surprisingly good shape given the rain. Only a few puddles and no mud. Phantom Creek crossings were cool. Can also walk to Beach trail from campground. Go under the bridge to the loops east of 101 and you’ll see walkway. During high tide, you won’t get to go far beyond platform but low tide, you can go pretty far out. Kids had fun looking at crabs, jellies, clams, oysters. Also saw some chum salmon spawning in the Dosewallips River, near the bridge.
