Trip Report

Old Robe Canyon — Saturday, Sep. 26, 2020

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

Came here at around 2pm on a Saturday with my 9 year old and 5 month old boys in hopes of finding some mushrooms to enjoy with our dinner. And to show the boys the old train tracks and tunnels. There were at least 15 other cars parked along either side of the road... but not many people were on the trail. (Is there another hike near there I should know about? Hah)

Though we found a nice small patch of oysters, nothing else edible showed up along the trail. Then we found out the hard way that the trail is now closed at 1.2m. Maybe it was silly of me to think the mushrooms would be here already... it was wishful thinking! Oh well. It was still a beautiful journey and I would recommend this hike to anyone. There are a few logs to dip under and climb over, so maybe not suitable for some. We will be back here very soon I am sure.
