Ira Spring Trail - Mason Lake — Wednesday, Sep. 30, 2020

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
The colors were out!

Wonderful, albeit hazy with smoke, warm fall day for a hike. We forget how steep the Ira Spring Trail was from the last time we hiked it so it was a slog to get up the hill. But at 6.5 miles RT its not bad.

The parking lot was full when we arrived around noon, but we managed to get the last open slot. BTW, when we got back around 6pm the lot was still about 1/3 full.

The trail is in really good shape, but I recommend ankle high boots because of all the rock hopping required to get up/down the hill. The fall foliage was colorful and made for some pretty views. The lake was cold but felt so good to soak our feet in. Very few bugs were present and when a light breeze came up they disappeared.

Most, but not all of the other hikers were good at wearing masks or stopping to put one on before they reached us on the trail. The trail was not too crowded, but more people that I expected on a Wed.

The smoke was high up but visible.
Looking west towards Seattle.
Trail was in great shape.
