I've been to a fair number of lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness so I thought I was ready for what I'd see. But when I got to the middle enchantments I saw why everyone wants to come here! And how lucky I was that the larches were in rare form--some were already losing their needles but most were a vibrant gold!!!
Trail Conditions: All good! A bit hard to follow around the core (maybe that's just me)
Snow: None! It's supposed to snow this weekend though!
Road/Parking: The road to Stuart/Colchuck TH has potholes but I made it in my 2-wheel drive, relatively low clearance car. Barely got a spot in the actual lot at 8am on Thursday at Snow Lakes. Lots were packed when I went to get my bike at Stuart/Colchuck TH
My advice: Don't bike from Snow Lakes TH to Stuart Lake TH with a full pack. Either drop your pack off and then bike, or bike down at the end of your trip. Also, don't hike it in one day if you don't hike a lot: it's hard.
Shout out to my Enchantments friends at Isolation Lake for taking some awesome pictures of me in a "cute pose" (and a couple of themselves lol)!
