This was one of the best hikes we have been on. This weekend was particularly busy, so we had to park along the highway about 1/2 mile from the trailhead, but it was well worth it.
We hiked clockwise so we had the steeper ascent. Challenging with our kids (ages 12,11 and 9) but manageable with plenty of water breaks and we stopped at the Mazama Store on our way and loaded up on sandwiches and snacks.
The views at the top on this early fall afternoon were breathtaking. It was quite crowded (likely due to the pandemic) but still a fantastic day hike.
Some narrow trails on the way down so it was slow going due to the crowds, but again, totally worth it because there are views at every turn.
Make sure you wear good hiking shoes/boots as the trail is rocky in some areas. Also recommend layers as you are in and out of sun exposure the whole way.
