Welch Peaks — Monday, Jun. 29, 2020

The rhodies at the lower elevations are spectacular right now. There were quite a few people on the shared trail to Mount Townsend, but we had the trail to Welch Peaks to ourselves. The landscape and vegetation changes dramatically after leaving the saddle to head to the peaks. It was a really neat adventure to explore this area. We decided to turn around once we reached the cairn in the photo as the route looked too sketchy. This is a pretty serious scramble, so not for the faint of heart or inexperienced.
