The snow was really beautiful. I got to the trailhead early on Thanksgiving, and there was plenty of parking. This is my third time trying to do this trail, since the previous times, I arrived too late and the parking lot was full.
I’m really, really glad I did this with snowshoes. I was the only one on the trail with these, and I saw a lot of people post-holing constantly. I did too a couple times, but it was never as bad as the others I saw.
There was one section that was easy going up, but then, by the time I got back down, there was no good footing, so I slid on my butt, which hurt when I scraped it against some roots. When there’s some more snow, I imagine this will be happening a lot less.
The bridge crossing shown in my picture was very sketchy. I wouldn’t recommend attempting it unless you’re very confident in your abilities. There was also a log crossing that wasn’t great.
The falls were beautiful, though hard to see. I didn’t make it up to the viewpoint because there wasn’t a super clear path.
