Marblemount Boat Launch Trail — Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20
Skagit River Trail - C P

After checking in at Glacier Peak Resort I took a little walk to see the grounds.

Starts next to the Chapel across from Clark Cabins Road on Highway 20, look for the sign with the hiker on it.  Follows along the river, comes out closer to Corkindale Creek, I walked next to the quiet highway back to the resort.

I found another hiker sign behind the RV parking, followed the grassy road out to a gate accessing the powerlines that run across the valley.  Had to turn back due to darkness but there is miles of this wide open corridor to explore.

There are a bunch of other short trails along the Skagit and Cascade Rivers in the area - at the boat launch, the fish hatchery, Pressentin Park next to the gas station, Skagit Land Trust land along South Cascade River Road, Sauk Skagit Reach Trail at Howard Miller Steelhead Park, across the bridge from the park on both sides of Highway 530.  I want to try to find the old RR grade shown on the USGS map behind the church and Cascadian Farms.

Forecast looks sunny most of this coming week, so much great hiking out here.  Support Small Business Saturday and book a spot at Glacier Peak Resort, North Cascades Highway MP 103.  360-873-2250 9AM to 9PM.

Get a couple nights (at least) so you don't have to check out before your hike, leave your valuables safely in your room.  Ask about restaurant hours, you may have to bring your own food (money saved!), all have refrigerators.  Once you stay here you won't do the North Cascades any other way!
