We couldn't do something epic, but we had a great time walking down to the river to do some SCIENCE! This was the third and final 2020 "grab sample" of water for the Adventure Scientists' Wild and Scenic Rivers project.
The trail is in great shape, but parking is limited. We got the last spot at about 11:30. The good news is the trail is short enough that there's often someone leaving.
The water is higher than in summer when you there was a sizeable beach. You can still spread out along the shore a little, but you have to hop rocks to stay out of the really, really cold water.
If you go in the morning when the sun's out, the moss glows and the steam makes it magical.
We didn't do the whole loop, but have in the past. The long side is better than the short, but even just a little walk was awesome.
